Literary Love: Jane Eyre

Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre has always been one of my favorite classics: a resourceful heroine who won't compromise herself, a deep love with seemingly-impossible obstacles, and the poetic language ... it was a pleasure despite having to pick it apart in high school with essays and quizzes. Here's a fav quote:

Eat Sleep Breathe READ

To go along with my Eat Sleep Breathe Write design:

I've stepped up my reading game lately; in March I read only 4 books, but so far in May I've doubled that. Part of that is because I've got research to do for the WIP, but part is simply that I'm trying to replace internet aimlessness (and shopping) with all the novels on my miles-high to-be-read list. I'm so much happier when I make time for reading!

One of my favorite reads from the last couple months: The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch. For anyone who likes complex, layered fantasy with gritty adventure, con artists, and a world so well built you can smell and taste it, check it out. You're welcome!

About the series: I first made a print in this style for LOVE, and liked it so much I experimented with other words that inspire me. I love the effervescence and simplicity :)

I'm on a writer's retreat in the mountains of West Virginia this weekend (so much snow is occurring! Getting out of here tomorrow will be fun). There's lots of cheese to be nibbled and wine to be sipped, but this helps keep me motivated to, you know, work:

Right now I'm working on a fantasy novel. It's big. It's epic. It hurts my head sometimes. But I love it :) Everyone writes something, even if it's just a grocery list (I bet you make a hell of a grocery list). What are you writing these days?
